Georgetown to Idaho Springs 1/2 Marathon

Lauren and I freezing before the race.

Mile 10.

Smiling after the race,

On Saturday, I ran my first half marathon with my best friend Lauren. The 1/2 began in Georgetown,CO a small mountain town resting at 8,500ft and ended in Idaho Springs (7,500ft). Most of the course was on the frontage road that parallels 1-70 but the two are separated by Clear Creek which makes it feel even further from the highway than it actualy is. There was a large section of the race that followed a dirt trail along side the river through the forest. It was a really beautiful course and the surrounding mountains made for incredible scenery. Overall, it was an awesome race to run and a great experience. I finished with a time of 1:41:35 which was much better than I expected. This race was important for me as I am still in training for a full marathon in September. I'm actually feeling like I may be able to finish the whole now!
