Danskin Triathlon

On Sunday June 29th, I participated in my first triathlon. It was a sprint that Crocs was sponsoring and they offered to pay for any women who were interested in participating. The Danskin is an all women's triathlon that is know for being great for beginners (i.e. me). Crocs was a little late on annoucing their sponsorship of participants so I only had 4 weeks to train. I also had never really swam as a sport so I had to figure out how to swim in a very short amount of time. The course was supposed to be a 750m swim, 12 mile bike and 5K (3.2 mile) run BUT that day the swim was shortened to somewhere around a 400m due to cold water temps. I bought a wetsuit a few weeks ago so the water felt good to me and I don't think it was nearly as cold as the officials thought it was. The bike also ended up shorter than expected which was also a little disappointing. Despite this, I had a great time and it was a good experience. My knee has been hurting less now that I am cross training so I plan to keep this up and am signed up for another sprint at the end of the summer. I'm excited to have enough time to train for the next one and hoping I can actually set a time for myself to try to beat!

Some of you may not know this but...I'm really a super hero. This outfit proves it.
